JOB POSTING FOR MAINTENANCE POSITION

This position is responsible for maintaining the physical school buildings and school properties in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety, so students have an attractive, comfortable and efficient place in which to learn.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Maintenance person will be responsible for all maintenance and will assist with custodial activities as needed.  He/she must be knowledgeable in the areas of plumbing, heating, electrical maintenance, carpentry and general maintenance.  In addition, he/she also has a major responsibility for the up keep of the school grounds and school properties.  The maintenance person will supervise the custodian.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the school building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
  • Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
  • Supervises and assists custodian with cleaning of building as necessary.
  • Supervises  yard keeping chores as grass cutting and snow removal from driveways, parking lot and sidewalks
  • Thorough knowledge of building mechanical systems.  He/she must have the ability to make the necessary repairs to school mechanical systems and housing properties as needed.
  • Assists with set-up and take down of after school and week-end programs.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Previous school maintenance services and supervisory experience preferred.
