We Believe That…

  • We must hold high expectations for ALL students

  • Students learn at different rates and come to us with differing amounts of knowledge

  • Students should prove mastery of the school curriculum/state standards at or above grade level

  • Students must take responsibility for their learning in our supportive school environment

  • Students learn through a variety of large group, small group and individual activities

  • Students should be provided with work and tasks which are challenging and appropriate to their ability and skill level

  • Some of a student’s work should be based on his/her interests, strengths, and talents

  • We must ensure that our students develop task commitment, independence, self-confidence, and feelings of creative accomplishment

  • Learning is more meaningful and enjoyable when content and process are learned within the context of a real problem

  • Our school should promote for our staff continuous and reflective opportunities for professional growth and leadership

  • We must create a learning community that honors ethnic, gender, and cultural diversity and promotes mutual respect, democratic values and the preservation of Earth’s resources

  • We must sustain a collaborative school culture with appropriate decision-making opportunities for students, parents, and staff
